Berzerk Ball Review

The old power and angle game has been done again and again, yet with the right theme and extras it is still an addictive game.   The saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" definitely appiles to Berzerk Ball, it offers the same joys as any other power and angle game.  You tap the screen to angle your shot and then again for the power and off your object flies.  In the case of Berzerk Ball this object is a fat nerdy fellow, who you soon grow to hate.  His one liners and whining make you want to hit him all the more, and no amount of blood from his little fat torso is going to quench this desire .
Along his flight he will encounter bees and other objects that propel him into the air, such as money balloons that give you cash, cannons, robots, mines, blobs and then finally the ground.  The idea is to propell your nerd as far as you can for greater XP and hit as many money balloons as you can for cash, both allow you to improve your current character.


In the game you play as one of a group of jocks or the one cheerleader.  Each one of them has base statistics but as they level up there is some customisation.  For every level they grow the player gets to distribute two points into any of the following categories: Power, Accuracy and Control.  Every category is self explanatory in what it does, power makes you hit harder, accuracy makes your shots easier to line up and control allows you to control your nerd easier and even hit him again.

When you reach a distance of 100,000 with any of the three main male characters you unlock another new jock to be played with.  With a total of eight characters there is a fair amount of mild variation in the simple game.  The added element of customisation also keeps the game a little more interesting.  While Berzerk Ball brings nothing new to the genre it is well worth a download.  The graphics are appealing enough to keep the player aesthetically pleased and the game is very fluid and fast paced, not giving the player enough time to become bored with the game.
